Crafty Cubes -
Where the box may be square, but the products are hip!

ABOUT US

How we started:

Crafty Cubes™ is the product of a friendship between two female entrepreneurs, both longtime handcrafters. After brainstorming new ways to promote their businesses, and having experience in building "goodie bags" for various conferences and events, they decided in early 2006 to enter into a new venture - helping to put quality handcrafted products from independent artisans into the hands of those who love to receive them.

Reasons to choose Crafty Cubes:

Artisans - you can participate in our promotional campaigns with confidence, knowing that your products are being promoted and handled by two businesswomen who know from first-hand experience how you put your heart and soul (not to mention blood, sweat and tears! LOL) into every one of your products and will work with your creations as if they were their own.

Purchasers - you can purchase Crafty Cubes™ with confidence, knowing that the products have been carefully selected for inclusion based on their quality, individuality and value by seasoned veterans in the handcrafting industry. Even with all of their collective skills, they still frequently enjoy purchasing and using high-quality products from other crafters, and know what to look for!

A little bit about "the team":

Shannon Foster, of Foster's Creations, is a multi-talented cake decorator and handmade beauty product formulator. In 2000 she started with baking and decorating cakes for friends and family in order to satisfy her desires to make unique gifts of love. In 2002 she did her first wedding cake and was hooked. Decorating cakes has become her creative outlet... not only are her creations super yummy but they are uniquely created for each recipient. In 2002 her Bath and Body Products line began. As her thirst for perfection grew, so did the popularity of her ever-evolving products. Family and friends began sharing with others, and soon the need to create a business began. Her most recent addiction (oops we mean addition) is a newly created line of wedding cake jewelry debuting in April of 2006. In trying to promote her products outside her local area she realized she could not only promote her own products but also increase awareness for other scented craft artisans, leading to the creation of Crafty Cubes™.

Brenda Sievers, of Oak Court Creations and longtime coordinator of the Chicago—Area Soap and Candlemakers' Conference, has been a crafter as long as she can remember - since her grandmother taught her to knit and crochet before she was even in grade school! She's worked in many other media, including macrame, jewelrymaking, tatting, hairpin lace, quilling, needlepoint, crewel, and counted cross stitch. Severe allergies to many standard beauty products led her to take up soapmaking. After honing her skills she began to sell her creations, adding toiletries and candles to her product line in response to customer requests. Several years ago, she shifted her focus to teaching soap and candlemaking classes, selling supplies to others interested in making their own products, and growing the annual conference into one of the largest events of its kind in the country. One of the recurring requests for seminars and instruction at the annual conference has been on promotion and advertising for independent ("indie") artisans, leading to her involvement in Crafty Cubes™.

When you e-mail Crafty Cubes™, chances are good that you'll be corresponding with Shannon... she's responsible for handling most consumer and artisan inquiries and for maintaining the Crafty Cubes™ website. Brenda's responsibilities include tracking and receiving products from artisans, most of the assembly and shipping of each Cube campaign, and assisting with promotion and advertising.
